Kauhanen, Aeschillus Matiae 🔗

Tavinsalmen (Kuopion) kirkkopiirin ensimmäinen kirkkoherra -------------------- Aeschillus Matiae was from Kauhala village(?) in Karislojo parish, from which he probable took his name Kauhanen. He was the first vicar in the new church which was founded in the new denomination in Northern Savolachs, for whose foundation Gustaf Fincke got in August 1547 permission by king Gustav Vasa and which was first named Tavisalmi according a estate (nowadays Maaninga), built abt 1545 by a book-keeper Klemetti, but was soon named Kuopionniemi, then Kuopio. The whole Idensalmi and Leppävirta belonged to this church and Aeschillus lived in Raunikkala, nowadays Leppävirta.
